PCG Says: "There are hundreds of Laodiceans in this region... [Netherlands]"

Just when I think Armstrongites can't say any more dumb things, along comes the Philadelphia Church of God's own Ronnie Staal.  It seems PCG is on a big push in Europe with stupid newspaper advertisements.   Ronnie had this to say about former and present COG members who live in the Netherlands (and Belgium) who are not follower's of God's most perfect, righteous and Holy, Philadelphia Church of God.

Ronald Staal, a PCG minister who lives in the Netherlands, believes that the new advertising will generate a good response.  “Since the campaign in the UK proved to be very successful, we have prayed for a similar campaign over here even more,” he said. “There are hundreds of Laodiceans in this region, and many more people who are at least familiar with the name of Mr. Armstrong, or who have read the Plain Truth.”
How stupid can this man get?

The PCG is also buying ad space in a conservative and slightly religious newspaper, the Trouw.

The church has also purchased four print ads in the Trouw newspaper. Trouw, which means "faithful" in Dutch, is a conservative and slightly religious newspaper. Its ads cost a little more than those in the UK, but they appear further forward in the paper, and Trouw accepts only a relatively small number of ads.

I see a letter writing campaign to the Trouw asking why they are letting a heretical American cult advertise religious hate language in the Netherlands.  PCG has already damned most of the Netherlands with Staal's inflammatory comment.

Perhaps the government of the Netherlands can be told about the "fake" chruch addresses that it set up to gather the information and money.

To process advertising requests, the church has expanded its presence in the Netherlands. Richard Howard created a Dutch-language website: www.thetrumpet.nl. The church also set up a Dutch 0800 number and post office.

It look like France, German and Scandinavia will soon be bombarded by this heretical cult's absurdities.

The advertising initiative in the UK is set to continue on an on-going basis. To control costs and to help the office with the increased workload, print advertisements will run every other week. Dutch ads ran until May 5. Mr. Robinson says that the church plans to run similar advertising campaigns in France and Germany. Dutch, French and German advertising campaigns would then rotate, with one month of advertising and then two months off. He also said that he hopes to run Google Adwords campaigns in other European countries, including those in Scandinavia.

You have got to stop this! I have laughed all day long at these posts. My co-workers wanted to know what was so funny today. They cannot comprehend life in the Church of God.

I don't believe in laodiceans. They are like bigfoot, you only get blurry photos of them when you try to find them.
And all those footprints the PCG casts are fakes. I know it.

Hey hey!!!! I'm Dutch. Leave my people alone! We're very good at chocolate and licorice so let's just leave well enough alone.

Not to mention a tad liberal....

Remember the Dutch boy Hans who saved his country by putting his finger in a leaking dike?

Maybe Hans can save his country again, by putting his finger in Ronnie Staal's leaking pie-hole!

I see Laodicean people. Walking around like regular people. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're Laodicean. I see them all the time. They're everywhere.

Laodiceans are from the city of Laodicea in Asia Minor. It was destroyed by invasions by the Turks and Mongols. It is now in ruins. There are no people living in the City of Laodicea. The ones that were there a long time ago are all now dead.

There are no Laodiceans in the Netherlands.

The PCG is factually wrong.

No one should ever listen to them again, no matter how hard they advertise and no matter where they advertise.

More Sabbath keeping Scientologists.

Well, Jesus said to preach the gospel unto everyone of those Laodiceans...

Meanwhile, I love the typical hype-minus-the-accountability that for years has permeated the WCG and its ilk:

Advertising "is set to continue...."

The church "plans to run" similar advertising campaigns....

Dutch, French and German advertising campaigns "would then rotate...."

...he "hopes to run" Google Adwords campaigns...

Promises, promises. The Armstrongs were masters at dazzling people with promises of big things to come -- in the church, at the college, in prophecy, in local churches, and so on. “Here’s what we’re going to do next….” Follow-through was largely nil. Their progeny do the same thing. Flurry outpaced everyone for years, but now Pack is gaining. What matters most is the appearance of grandeur, because it appears to lend legitimacy.

Anyway, I got a kick out of the non-committal language. So typical.

Someday soon the Lord will come

And those of you who laugh and scoff
Will find yourselves completely lost

The words from Jethro were pretty much the words we heard back in 1972.

How soon is soon?

Harold Camping soon?

Robert Weinland soon?

If it's Roderick Meredith soon, well, that was 1975.

Here's the Philadelphia Church of God "Plain Truth:...Those people could give a flip if any so called "Laodiceans" come back into the so called "True Church"...Remember...Their commission is to WARN THOSE LAODICEANS! Gerald Flurry only wants HIS FAMILY AND EXTENDED FAMILY, (God's jewels) to inherit the Kingdom of God! I truly believe this now because I used to be a part of that group until about three months ago when Brian Davis along with whoever else was listening from "Headquarters" disfellowshipped me and my thirteen year old son over the phone. Brian Davis has been trying to PUSH ME BACK OUT OF THE PCG even before I was officially invited to attend services in 2004. Brian Davis has NO WISDOM and tells you to do whatever he feels like. He secretly disfellowshipped me over the phone, (as is his usual way)in Feb. 2006 after I OBEYED HIM and left my husband. He was trying to keep the PCG from having to hire attorneys, which they did, two of them, that cost the PCG around $100,000 to defend the church's doctrines and pay for my divorce. He INTERFERED WITH MY DIVORCE, which went terrible for me. After this he suspended me for saying,"I'm not listening to anyone". Then his FINAL BLOW was on Feb. 22, 2012, when he got his ultimate wish to disfellowship me, all because I had posted some pics and funny remarks to my family ON MY MOTHER'S FACEBOOK PAGE, which is a no-no according to Gerald Flurry. He says we can ONLY POST on "Twitter". When confronted by a phone call from Brian Davis 2-22-2012, when I wouldn't shut up and let the GREAT BRIAN DAVIS tell me some bull again, he told me, "O.K...You're disfellowshipped". He just loves to say those words! So...I wouldn't bother trying to get in that so called TRUE CHURCH. They'll be trying to figure out how to push you back out as fast as they can. A lot of the ministers are corrupt and I'm assuming Gerald Flurry knows EXACTLY my situation, as I couldn't get through his "Open Door" It's sick!B.S.

Well, Anonymous/BS, it's good that you're out of the PCG -- but the fact that you remained up until three months ago would seem to indicate that you had not/have not broken free from Armstrongism.

You don't need to try so hard to make a case here; we're way ahead of you on the Armstrongism-in-the-rear-view-mirror spectrum. But it looks like you could stand to relax and laugh a little.

You're not going to get justice from the PCG or its hideous system; there's no point in trying for it. The fact is, you simply need to let it go.

Brian Davis? Stop wasting your time or your breath. My guess is that Brian knows better than to be doing what he's doing or to be where he is. But the scam is working for him, and he's got power and influence with the Flurrys that he would have nowhere else. So he runs with it.

The question is, where are you now? If you're hoping to get restitution from within the COG system, you won't get much sympathy or encouragement from this site or its regular readers or commentators. We know such restitution, such justice, is simply not possible. The COGs don't know what it is, let alone have the power to grant it.

There's hope for your 13-year-old son, and there's hope for you. But only if you stop caring what PCG or any of these other CGs think. Break free. Think for yourself. Forget Brian Davis. Forget them all. Only then will you be able to move forward.

My two cents.

I'm trying to EXPOSE THEM so no one else makes MY MISTAKE and calls them up! Most people who have not been a part of the Philadelphia Church of God can only make cute little comments. I want them to hear my REAL LIFE EXPERIENCE with those idiots! Brian Davis reads these posts...B.S.

The best decision I ever made was to leave the PCG. It took a year of being out from under their influence for me to be able to then see Herbert (the W stands for nothing) Armstrong for the scam artist he truly was. And it has taken five more years to finally begin to feel my sanity returning.

"Sabbath keeping Scientologists": a very appropriate description of Armstrongism in all its forms.
