Bob Thiel: Armstrongism's Most Accurate Prophet

Bob Thiel, Living Church of God's prophetic voice on prophecy, Mayan gibberish and all things Catholic, is bragging today about his radio interviews over the last couple of days regarding the end of the world on December 12, 2012.

It is interesting to me that he works over time in disproving the Mayan  and Catholic visions of of Fatima while never paying any attention to the false prophecies and outright lies uttered over the decades by Roderick C Meredith, Gerald Waterhouse and Herbert Armstrong.  Literally hundreds of false predictions and prophecies by these men have failed miserably yet these men are raised up as virtuous wise men. Thousands of lives have been damaged and scared by these liars, yet they are given a "get out of jail" card for free.

Despite the utter failure of these men, there is one rising star in the Living Church of God that has a proven track record of his predictions being right.  At least in his eyes.

Bob Thiel writes about his amazing accuracy:

Since my book 2012 and the Rise of the Secret Sect came out in 2009, I have been able to reach millions via radio (presuming audience size estimates I have been told are correct)–world events already have confirmed at least 24 predictions in it, and by the end of this month, apparently at least 27.  Interestingly, my online article End of Mayan Calendar 2012–Might 2012 Mean Something? has had between 500,000-600,000 page views on the internet since it first came out.

While Satan seemingly has plans for 2012 related to false declarations of peace (cf. Ezekiel 13) and getting people to scoff about prophecy (cf. 2 Peter 3), as COGwriter, I have tried to explain to people interested in end time matters that Bible prophecy can be trusted and that it is not possible for today to be TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it).

Bible prophecy uttered by a Church of God minister or member is NOT accurate and CANNOT be trusted!   Every single one of them have been proven to be liars.

These false prophets don't seem to take the God of the Bible seriously.

The God of the Bible pronounces a death sentence on false prophets.

Jesus said to beware of them.

Yet the Cult of Herbert Armstrong (CoHA) embraces them.

If the Bible is true and God exists, then they are all in serious trouble and will be destroyed in the Lake of Fire.

If not, they are simply a colossal waste of time and money.

Yet these false prophets want us to take them seriously and don't seem to be a bit repentant.

Isn't that like, oh, I don't know, the unforgiveable sin?

I love Bob's inability to not nurture his self importance.

"Since my book..."
"I have been able..."
"My online article..."
"as a COG writer...I have tried."

My favorite is still.."sadly, and of course..."

All condescending, all self centered and another example of a man who thinks he has eyes to see that others can't possibly have so they get to borrow his including his filters and blinders.

I don't think Thiel is aligning himself with Living Church of God anymore. If you go to his website, cogwriter.com, and look under popular and related links and click on news of Living church of God, you will see what he posted on 12/15. Then go to news of Global. Something is going on. I've seen no chatter at all about it. I agree with t

MY COMMENT - To quote the late Garner Ted Armstrong's final sentenance in a sermon on "False Idols" and how God will destroy them given at the Feast of Tabernacles Jekyll Island:

"If it is true that Your IDOL IS YOU, then whom shall God destroy?" - the late Garner Ted Armstrong

hmmm, this could be the beginning of the APCOG (Accurate Prophecy Church of God).

I suppose Rod took him to the woodshed for his public disagreement with the powers that be.

Thiel's private strategy is typical of the collective COG's: simply sweep under the carpet and ignore all the predictions that have proven false through the years, and instead list all the meaningless statistics that "prove" how their message is being proclaimed to the masses.

For example, just observe UCG's literature and website, and you'll see the same practice: boasts of how many hits their websites gets each month, how many issues of The Good news they have printed and mailed, etc., etc., all in neat little charts and graphs for their supporters to see that all their donations are not in vain.

Honestly, it's all so boringly predictable. But apparently the leadership of such groups think these numbers actually mean something significant.

I should never post before drinking a pot of coffee.

This post concluded with saying: "...Bible prophecy uttered by a Church of God minister or member is NOT accurate and CANNOT be trusted! Every single one of them have been proven to be liars..."

And that just may be absolutely true when one considers that they preach a Mickey Mouse Millennium where they believe Jesus Christ will "soon" be ruling on earth for a 1,000 years.

And they like to talk about Christ's "second coming" and often quote Revelation 1:7, which says:

"Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. even so, Amen."

When will Christ come with clouds?

When will every eye see Him?

When will those who "pierced Him" see Him?

Will it be when the two witnesses are resurrected and go up to some clouds? Or, at some other time?

We know that those who pierced Him won't live again until some time AFTER Satan is loosed from the bottomless pit!

So much for their Mickey Mouse Millennium, which appears to be part of a false gospel with "another Jesus."

No wonder they can't be trusted...

Could be. Doug Winnail has been preaching outrageous things for a long time. Rod has kept him on a tight leash, but Thiel can see through that, and I think has had all he can take. My guess is that Thiel will become independent, largely because the vile hatred that Rod Meredith has regularly spewed at all the other COG brethren has been quite effective.

Hopefully, people are sophisticated enough these days not to base their lives on Thiel's prophecies.

HWA always insisted that he was not a prophet, and although all of us here realize that in so saying, he was making a truthful statement, his prophetic guesses were by definition "prophecies". That's the way members took them, and it would have been indicative of the worst type of rebellion or Laodeceanism to have relegated them to the realm of speculation. HWA wanted it both ways. Credibility, but no accountability. And, that's about the only way false prophets can fake the gift of prophecy.

John...along with the Book of Revelation being written for then about things that must SHORTLY come to pass, this verse was originally written to say that before those who pierced him died, Jesus would return. It is not about them dying and then coming back 3000 years later. This indicates as well the Book of Revelation was for that time, is a failed prophecy and not of significance today.
