Dave Pack: “Everyone who has challenged me has either died, been seriously injured or has been eliminated from the work.”

It has been fascinating to see the mental breakdown of Dave Pack over the past few years.  This is not something that just appeared recently though.  Dave has left a trail of destruction in every church area he has ever pastored in.  Worldwide Church of God leaders knew what a sick man he was decades ago and did nothing but move him from one church area to another as members filed complaints.  No one ever had the wherewithal in Church Administration to remove him from the ministry.  It shows that the church had very little care for the members he abused.

The Painful Truth has the following two quotes from Ambassador Report 32 about Dave Pack on its page: The Devil and Dave Pack

From AR 32

Armstrong Follower Held In Murder of Daughter

On Sept. 20, 1984, Armstrong follower Lois Marie Elliott of North Tonawanda, New York was charged with second- degree murder. Police say that before dawn that day, the 36-year-old woman stabbed her four-year-old daughter to death in the child’s bed, knifed herself in the chest, in an apparent suicide attempt, and then telephoned police, saying, “I killed her.” Officers dispatched to the scene discovered the pajama-clad body of the little girl, Roxanne Elizabeth, in her own bed. She had already died from multiple stab wounds, mostly to the chest. Mrs. Elliott was found nearby bleeding from a wound to her own chest. (The Buffalo News, Sept. 20, 1984, p. 1 and Sept. 21, p. C- 5.)

Elliott was divorced from her WCG-member husband Frederick R. Elliott of Kenmore, New York, and had been living with her widowed mother Olive Baldassara. Mrs. Baldassara was home the night of the tragedy, but was apparently asleep in another room during the attack.
Investigators say that Elliott had telephoned police the previous evening claiming her ex-husband had sexually abused their daughter. But police have since concluded that there are “no facts to support that allegation.” After Elliott was treated at a hospital and released into police custody, she told investigators she had “committed a sin that would carry on through her bloodline” and that her daughter had “committed an unpardonable sin and didn’t pray enough.”

Neighbors described Elliott as a reclusive “religious fanatic” who rarely allowed her daughter outdoors to play. Church acquaintances told us that although Elliott had been disfellowshipped from the WCG, she had remained faithful to church teachings and had desired to be reinstated in the church. Reinstatement was not forthcoming, however, because she had been labeled as having a “demon problem.”

One of Elliott’s church friends said, “I don’t think Pack [Dave Pack, a WCG minister in the Buffalo, New York area] ever encouraged her to get psychiatric help. And if he really thought she had demons, why didn’t he just cast them out, like in the Bible?”

Another acquaintance said, “We could sense Lois had a problem, but her church experience and her marriage problems didn’t help her. Then after she was disfellowshipped she seemed to get worse. She really needed help.”

Niagara County First Assistant District Attorney Stephen P. Shierling told the Report he fully intends to prosecute Elliott on the murder charge. But Elliott’s attorney, James Perry of North Tonawanda told us that his client has been declared mentally incompetent to assist in her own defense, has been committed to a state mental hospital for treatment, and that there is no way to know if she will ever recover sufficiently to be able to stand trial.

Whatever the legal outcome, the fact remains that a pretty little four-year-old girl is dead. Neighbors told reporters how Roxanne’s father had visited the little girl at least twice each week and how happy she always seemed to be when he arrived. The Buffalo News story of Sept. 21 had this ending:

Although neighbors Thursday said that they never saw the little girl playing outside, her father, Mr. Elliott, talked about her energy and her precociousness. She loved to dance and draw and could name all the states, he said.

“She had a mind like you wouldn’t believe,” he told The News. “She was like a little adult, a little Shirley Temple. She was so vivacious.” Mr. Elliott then politely declined any further comment, and broke down in tears.

David Pack’s Reign of Terror

On the night of Roxanne Elliott’s death, one of the last people – probably the very last one – Lois Elliott phoned before the tragedy was WCG minister David Pack, pastor of the Buffalo (North), New York congregation.. Exactly what was said, we don’t know. At least not yet. That information may well come out should Lois Elliott ever recover sufficiently to stand trial. What is remarkable, however, is how often Pack’s name seems to appear in conjunction with tragedies in the WCG. For a number of years now, no WCG minister’s name has appeared more often in letters written to the Report complaining of ministerial abuse.

Pack, a burly 6-foot, 5-inch Ambassador College graduate known locally for his authoritarian style, has so incensed some in his flock that a group have circulated an open letter detailing his abuses and have called for his removal. The letter describes Pack’s ministerial leadership as a “Reign of Terror.” On the cover page, addressed to WCG headquarters leaders, they wrote:

“David’s power-crazed quest to totally dominate the mind, body, and spirit of church members has not been done in a corner and has been done clearly in view of all to see at headquarters in Pasadena.”

On the following 13 pages of their letter the allegations about Pack read like a horror story. The authors contend that Pack constantly intimidates members, uses threats and mind-control methods, is given to extreme emotional outbursts, is highly political, believes in winning at all cost, has disfellowshipped members for trivial faults, prescribes diets while “playing M.D.,” insists on being addressed as Mr. Pack, enjoys wearing skimpy, skin-tight shorts to sporting events, has actually worn a wolf costume to church socials, enjoys putting down women, and told one married woman with children, “It would be better for you to shack up one night with a man than wear makeup.”
The letter quotes Pack as having said, “Everyone who has challenged me has either died, been seriously injured or has been eliminated from the work.” And, “God backs me even if I am wrong.

” On page 7 the authors made this statement to Pack (emphasis ours): Doesn’t it bother you that while you were in charge of the Rochester and Syracuse area there were three suicides? One can only wonder why they chose to kill themselves while you were their main advisor in the area. Perhaps you suggested to one or more of them that they would in no way make it into the Kingdom of God…. A statement such as, “You are no longer in the body of Christ,” could have caused one to give up and kill himself.

The above quote was written well before the Elliott family tragedy. Some who knew little Roxanne and her mother Lois Elliott wonder if it might have been a prophecy.

Probably Jesus rebuked the Pharisees because he knew that extreme Phariseeism first leads to imbalance, and with increasing callousedness towards fellow man, ends up all too often as a form of mental illness. Pharisees are not usually empaths by nature. They are anything but!

Dave dominating his members in mind, body and spirit is in harmony with church culture. Based on my church experiences, there is a spirit of murder and malice in this behaviour. I discerned it many times in the ministers minions.

There must be under the table communication from HQ which approves this tyranny. Perhaps former minister Dennis can shed some light in this.

I have some sobering news for Dave Pack. Everyone who challenged Kaiser Wilhelm has died. So has everyone who challenged Muhammad. So has everyone who challenged Jack the Ripper.

So will Dave. And, unless he undergoes a gargantuan repentance, Dave will die as a wolf whose only contribution to his world was to lie and steal and ruin the lives of many of his victims.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

The concept of "God backs me even when I am wrong" is telling. First of all it actually means "Even when I am wrong it doesn't matter. Follow me." There is no way to know if any god is pleased with or backing his foolish and mistaken notions no matter what. Dave's just making that up. Secondly it bespeaks a god that can mislead Dave or is powerless to stop him from being wrong. A weak god indeed. With all Dave's blather about himself and the Reunification NOW! Of 2013 fiasco, one suspects his remaining followers are simply brain dead . Mene Mene Tekel Upharsin Dave......

Ha! That's nothing.

Pack's name appears in conjunction with EVERY tragedy in his RCG. Furthermore, there appear to be nothing but tragedies in the RCG in recent years.

“Everyone who has challenged me has either died, been seriously injured or has been eliminated from the work.”--David C. Pack

So what?

The same disasters, and even more, have overtaken everyone who has ever tried to go along with him.

Dave was always a well known problem from his first hire. He was let go after his first year in ministry and brought back in a year later to Chicago almost as a favor to in-laws the RD was close to. Sadly, as assistant to the regional coordinator in Chicago I was asked if I recommended it. At 24 years old I said "sure". Sorry! 😱 HQ never confronted pain in the ass ministers with a history of stupid. They always just moved them to screw up more good folk

When you think about it, David Pack has always embodied the church's teachings on authority, and the authority of the local minister. Granted, he interpreted all of this to an extreme extent, but the fact that he was not censured demonstrates that the church would never correct or restrain the over-zealous. Correction was always reserved for those who were not extreme enough, for those who mitigated extreme, zero-tolerance authority with Christ-like human kindness and empathy.

...told one married woman with children, “It would be better for you to shack up one night with a man than wear makeup.”

This sounds like one of the enforced traditions Jesus spoke against: "Anyone who eats bread without washing hands, it is as if he had sexual relations with a prostitute." [from Babylonian Talmud]
Not that all traditions are bad; giving thanks before a meal is a tradition, not a Biblical command.

I recall hearing "God backs up his ministers" many times from the pulpit. The expression is deliberately vague, since it can't stand up to honest scrutiny. The implication is that if a minister gives wrong/bad advice to a member/s, or puts himself above the law, God will perform miracles to make things work out. This is contrary to Christ telling Satan to 'not tempt the lord your God (ie play by the rules).'
This is another example of many members including the ministers, having problems grasping basic reality.

What a terrible, terrible burden it must be to have this almost unpardonable sin on your conscience, Dennis (which is sinneD spelled backwards). Be very, very, very careful. If the Devil could use you to do something that horrible, imagine what else he could use you for. He might even use you to try to turn people against God and mix them up with evilution. Hopefully, somebody, somewhere will be praying for you.

Just as you now look back and make an excuse about your tender young age at the time, others probably have their own excuses too. For example, they could say that some young assistant that they asked about the matter at the time recommended Dave Pack and had told them that, “sure,” it was all okay. And thus were many condemned to suffer unspeakable torment.

Sooner or later, every one on earth will either die, get injured, or be eliminated from their work. That's because it is appointed unto man once to die.

Or to put it another way, everyone will either die or become president (and then die). That's because everyone dies.

Pack will get his turn.

Ah, Dennis, Dennis, Dennis! Sometimes I wish I had hung in there at AC for one more year. Could have gotten you mixed up with my beer-drinking, rock n roll crowd and set you straight so that you got expelled like the rest of us. You might have then pursued your education and career in paleontology, and the discussions would be informed by a whole different set of experiences.

I wish you had too BB. Alas, the experience is as it is and I am not hesitant, at least, to share it openly , real name, real picture, as I have experienced it. Someone even took a moment to write call me "Balsy" for posting my phone number. I told him I don't care and come from the days when you could look anyone up in a phone book. I don't mind who calls me and it was in such a call that I learned that I had gone insane, was institutionalize and committed suicide. This of course was news to me. When I offered to call the person who was weaving the tale, I was asked not to. Lol.

In this thread, someone asked if I knew more about Dave Pack and how avoided detection over the years. I shared what I know and a bit of light heartedness about my own recollections and get dumbass personal comments from Mr. Evil-ution, who has no guts to tell me who he really is, what is his affiliation and why he thinks he knows more about my experiences than I do. I'd be tempted to note he must be a Cretin-ist, but that would just be sinking to his anonymously low lack of critical thinking and originality.

And yes, I'd have made a much better paleontologist. It was the 60's....."Stop Children , what's that sound, everyone look what's going down..." and all that.

Byker Bob said...

Dennis, had we met in the day, some of your Presbyterian values might have rubbed off on me, too!

Also, I LOL'd! You call him "Mr. Evilution", too. That guy's got to be a prankster trying to appear to be a typical low-mentality church member, to see what manure he can stir up! He's one of several posters who fixates on endlessly repeating one or two things, rather than presenting a flow of his own stream-of-consciousness ideas which might actually stimulate discussion. We also haven't recently heard from "Mr. Jumbotron" who gleefully picks and repeats buzz words from 5 and ten year old comments as if he had pulled a Rumple Stiltskin and missed all of the conversations that have taken place since then.

People who work with the sciences of the mind call that "perseveration".

Ah well. Somehow we still manage to have good discussions in spite of the disruptive kids.

Pack is an egomaniac to be sure.
The church cares nothing for the people or their welfare. You only hear from ministry is they want your money and of course, they always want your money!
When Global first began a minister was placed over our little group who believed that Christ was a black man and that the sidelocks of Jews were really dreadlocks!
It was nuts!
Another man, now a minister in New Jersey secretly believed that Christ was a created being, not God. He told people in private but it did color his sermons and sermonettes.
Complaints to headquarters about men like this went nowhere.

Another time a man in a congregation out west was exposing himself to the little girls who went downstairs to use the bathroom.
Complaints fell on deaf ears. It couldn't happen since the man was "converted".
Mothers had to guard their little girls vigilantly from this predator who was later hit by a bus and killed.

The church only wants your money and a congregation to pretend to minister to. Its a job to these guys for the most part though one of two here and there were good men who did really care.
But as another said in another thread, HWA created men in his own image: malginant narcissists who are unable to care about anyone.

If you are a member, get out quickly and let your head get cleared up. You are in a cult and it will never work out well.

Some of the statements in this post should be taken with a grain of salt they sound a little on the sensational side, however, 80% of it is spot on. RCG members who have left know very well how he is and reading what members from WCG complained made my Jaw drop because he is literally the same today.

He often told the story about how Hitler spoke to the people in an enchanting way and it was as if Hitler were possessed chanting a spell on his listeners and I feel like he did so too over the membership sometimes raising his voice so high the audio in the tapes would clip. He would yell like a made man and use analogies that were very explicit and then he would go on to say "I'm trying to be as raw as I can", or "get that in your head", or the lake of fire is reserved for some of you echoing Armstrong.

He told his entire staff that some of them needed to be fired, go back into the world and suffer under the devil to realize how good they have it. Said teenagers in the church liked to hook up, were dumb and couldn't do simple household chores. Were soft and on and on. He spent equally more time attacking the weaknesses of people than he did preaching.

He is awful and his own children want nothing to do with him and it's obvious. He will judge you, the way you look, stand, talk, whether your gestures are powerful enough or not. He demands fine things to be worn by the membership and for them to possess oxford shoes and leather briefcases, all while commanding three tithes and huge offerings to make up for declining members.

He continually gases up the membership with statistics that cant is deciphered because no one really knows the size of the church or amount of income, but we know its falling dramatically. They pulled back on printing magazines and sending them fewer times a year. They rely on members to raise funds for social or match back the amount spent to host them.

He fired staff and totally MURDERED their character and any chance at redemption they had in front of the entire staff. He kicked a widow out of church!!!!! Where did third tithe go?

These are facts, not assumption people!!! This man is not a joke!!! He is smoothe in his speech and he often analyzes and talks about how others are smooth and can even tell you their tricks that's because he uses them himself!!!!

I dont wish him harm, but i wish he would just stop harming the flock!!!!

I also knew/know some of the employees he's run out of RCG........

Over and Over you see the same pattern, good People who are genuinely trying to do right work, under right standards. But NO ONE is good enough for Dave. ...he runs them off. Nonsensical or out right lying accusations, hey , his OWN SISTER related how rotten he was to his own family...

Pray for the people of RCG. Their leader is not sane. Or worse....

He's animated in his speaking, but its not from the Spirit of God, folks!!!!
