Why Can't COG Prophets Ever Pick the Right Battle To Fight?

The following was a comment on another thread that I think describes perfectly why Bob Thiel and other COG false prophets end up making the Church of God the laughingstock of humanity. They have never figured out which battles to fight

LCG needs no encouragement to belittle the world's newest prophet, and Bob seems to need no encouragement to provide no end of ammunition to his detractors. You would think with that double portion of the hoky spirit, Prophet Bob would at least have the wisdom to know which battles to fight. Instead he makes football into his hobbyhorse, and himself into a laughingstock.

Since I know you read this blog Bob, you might want to consider choosing pet doctrines aren't so petty, and you might want to refrain from declaring war on every last thing that is considered normal in the prevailing culture. You're just spitting in the wind.

Why is it that so often people figure that if they make themselves as odd, different, and ascetic as possible, condemning every simple pleasure, that this is going to somehow add up to them being better people, or that the deity is going happier with them? The stoics did this, the pharisees did this, the puritans did this. Where is the virtue in this asceticism? Not all differences are positive changes. Some just make you into an unrelenting killjoy. And I guarantee you that none of these people ever received any feedback from any a deity, confirming that he was, indeed, happier because they had made themselves into such oddballs and killjoys. Why are people always so sure they know the mind of god, even when the purported words of the said deity in their own hoky book declare that no man can possibly know it?

Prophet Bob is just one more example of how, if god were so perfect, couldn't he have designed a little better wiring inside the human skull? Apparently, as a species, we still have a lot of evolving to do...

LCG Pastor: Nothing Wrong With Watching The Super Bowl

Poor discredited prophet Thiel.  Even LCG is taking swipes at him after his silly rash of posts lately about the evil and satanic game of football.

Wallace Smith writes:

Every year when it comes around, I discuss whether or not we will watch it, and this year I suspect we will still be on the road coming home from Pittsburgh, so if it makes the driving less congested, all the better! We’ve had several posts here on the blog about football–whether it’s a sin to watch it, will there be football in the millennium, the crime of putting bounties on opposing teammates where thugs are paid to hurt others, how it provides lively Spokesman Club table topics fare, how elderly ladies can wrongly be made to feel guilty for enjoying it, and how local communities should be warned when nerds throw footballs–and rather than make a (yet) another post, I thought I would simply list previous discussions for those who might be interested. And while I think I have addressed it before in at least one of the previous posts, I am sympathetic to the argument that they football players should go back to wearing leather hats instead of the helmets they use today, or even outer-padded helmets. There are a number of sports which could probably be made safer in a number of ways–professional pencil sharpening, for instance–and American football is clearly one of them. (As discussed, below, though: does that make the sport inherently sinful? Not at all. If something done unwisely made it inherently sinful, we’d all be in a lot more trouble than we are.) Apparently, the Super Bowl cometh…

Apostle Malm Starting New Feast Site. All The Law all The Time.

A couple of years ago I made a prediction that apostle Malm would soon have a Feast site.  That prediction is coming true.  I am now a certified PROPHET with a track record BETTER than prophet Thiel!  Would someone PLEASE accidentally lay hands on me and make me a REAL prophet now?

Today, apostle Malm announced he is planning a Feast site in either Medford Oregon or Washington State.

2013 Feast of Tabernacles
I want to thank those who have proposed various locations for holding a Feast of Tabernacles this year.  The potential locations have come down to Washington and Oregon, mainly because there are experienced men in those states who are willing to help find suitable facilities.

Medford Oregon was at one time a WCG Feast site and I am in contact with a retired deacon living in that area, who was ordained in 1986 and who  is aware of the facilities available.

Another man also a deacon of decades experience, lives in Washington state and is volunteering to seek out potential sites in that state.

Setting up a site for the 2013 Feast of Tabernacles will depend on costs/finances, availability of a location and on whether folks want to attend.

We will have a date certain by late March which will then enable us to select and reserve a site.
I am well aware that our visitors are widely scattered around the world  and that many will not have the means to travel and attend.   What we need now is some indication of the numbers of people who would like to attend.

Would all those who would like to and are able to attend a 2013 Feast of Tabernacles site in Washington or Oregon please contact me at jdm3@hotmail.com  as soon as possible.

Then apostle Malm lets us know just exactly what will be happing at his feast site.  His site won’t be filled with those unconverted COGers who flock to resort towns where they occasionally skip a service to sight see.  It will be filled with folk who talk about the law for 9 straight days.  Little about Jesus will be discussed but you can be damn sure know that the law will be discussed! There will be a strict format at apostle Malm's feast site.

You will get to experience MORE services though with shorter meeting times.  21st century folk have short attention spans and the apostle wants their full attention.

Please be aware that this will be a Feast somewhat different from the traditional WCG.  The Sermons and Bible Studies will be consistent with the teaching on this blog.  It will be a Feast of much strong spiritual meat; not a vacation in some tourist site.

I do not believe in speaking to fill in time and you can be sure that presentations will be full of meat and not long-winded, boring; same old, same old.  The Feast will be about making the most of our time for spiritual instruction.  I also believe that the traditional two hour meetings strain the normal attention span and I would plan more Services and Bible Studies, with shorter Services of about an hour to an hour and a half length.

False Prophet Thiel: Unconverted Spokesmen Club Men IGNORED My Speech Against Football

What an absolutely brilliant day to be an inappropriate male!  The sky is a brilliant blue with white wispy clouds.  It’s a pleasant 75 degrees here in Southern California with a slight breeze.  Anticipation is in the air for the big game.  Traffic is light on the freeways and last minute shoppers are out getting snacks and food.  BBQ grills are going all over the place.

Now compare that to the dour holier than thou attitude coming from false prophet Robert Thiel.  He started his postings off today with this:

Today is known as “Super Bowl Sunday” in the USA. Most years, the American football (which is not the same as the sport called soccer in the USA) contest known as the Super Bowl is the most watched television program in the USA. Between 100,000,000-200,000,000 are expected to intentionally (as opposed to perhaps seeing a news item about it) watch at least some of it today according to various reports.

Ok, that’s not so bad.  Then he dumps this holier than thou comment on people.  Remember now, God’s ONLY true Christians are now followers of Robert Thiel and who keep all the laws, rules and regulations of the supposedly original church.

Since many people in the USA have, at one time or another, made some hint of professing following Jesus, a relevant question may be:

Should Christians watch the Super Bowl?

According to the false prophet, John the Baptist spoke out against American football:

Also, notice what John the Baptist taught soldiers:
14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages. (Luke 3:14, KJV)
I could not reconcile loving my neighbor as myself and cherishing my flesh and not doing violence to any man by watching others do it in a football game. Nor the following:
9…You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. (Romans 13:9-10, NKJV)
The Super Bowl will do harm to participants in it.  Even if played according to all of its rules, American tackle football is evil because it actually physically harms many its participants...

The false prophet then has to tell us how those unconverted inappropriate males in his Spokesmen Club IGNORED his speech against football.  These pretend Christians that ridiculed him are bottom feeders of the Church because they had also refused to listen to God’s greatest man, Herbert W Armstrong who was also ticked off at football and all competitive sports.  I remember that time in Herb’s life.  He was ticked off about everything and everyone!  Anything that people liked, he was pissed at.  Since his life was at that time a miserable failure there was no reason anyone else should have any fun.

I once gave a speech at the old WCG Spokesman’s Club opposing football and watching the then upcoming Super Bowl game. Sadly, it was not well received. While some who claim to be Christians try to justify watching American football, they should realize that the 1980 comments by Herbert Armstrong were made mainly in response to how he saw supposed Christians playing and viewing sports that, of themselves, he did not oppose.  He then took his criticisms of competitive sports to the next level, and did not just condemn the improper competitive attitudes of sports participants/fans, but the violent sports themselves.

Next the false prophet makes another personal attack against Rod Meredith and the rest of the COG leaders.  Only Continuing Church of God, who is filled with only appropriate males, and is the only group that is boldly preaching against football.

BTW, the COG that has come out since HWA’s comments with the clearest statements condemning American tackle football is the Continuing Church of God. Most others, with a USA presence, either directly or indirectly endorse it or will not condemn it (could cost them supporters and donors). But should not Philadelphian Christians condemn truly violent acts against others?

Instead of feeding the poor, clothing the homeless and being real Christians, false prophet Thiel is worried about a football game.  Spitting and snarling at those who watching does NOT represent the god the claims to follow.  All he is doing is heaping ridicule and mockery upon himself and his little personality cult.  He has become the laughingstock of the broader Church of God.  If false prophet Thiel really wants people to sit up and take notice of him and his little group then why don’t they get out there and feed the homeless and the poor?  Why don’t they work in the soup kitchen in Arroyo Grande? All false prophet Thiel is doing is making and ass of himself and the god he claims to follow.
